Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup Returns After 10 Years

Another pickup is getting a second chance at life, this time it is the Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup. The pickup has been decommissioned for a while. The last one was here in 2013 so almost a decade. This means that the style and technology at the time are obsolete compared to everything now. And pickups are getting remodels and refreshes quite often than usual. Everything is evolving at a faster pace and manufacturers simply have to keep up or be out of the game. Cadillac is usually synonymous with style and luxury. We believe it will not be an exception with the new Escalade EXT Pickup.

We are counting on a first-class cabin and the latest in safety technology. The outside though is a different story. Probably it will look similar to its predecessor. However, with some modern tweaks to improve its functionality and be more appealing to the eye. The powertrain could also be completely different. In this time and age, everyone is racing to go green with their vehicles. Cadillac will probably follow suit and implement a green powertrain from the start. This means new architecture and a lot of other innovations. Let’s take a closer look at how the pickup will look like.

Interior Review

The interior of the new Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup is going to be brand new. There won’t be any borrowing from existing vehicles. But inspiration will surely be drawn from some. New luxurious leather seating with heating and the ventilating and massaging feature should be present. The big infotainment system is in the center of the vehicle, at least 14 inches. Fully digital dashboard to represent the futuristic outlook of the pickup itself.

Moonroof and ambient lightning would just be a big plus. Safety features are plenty for sure. Cameras and sensors around the pickup make parking much easier. Along with lane change alert, pedestrian detection, and many others. Also, hands-free driving is most likely to happen at a high price tag of the Cadillac.

Premium Styling

The outside of the Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup will resemble its predecessor. But also, it will have a contemporary style. Big 19-inch wheels with lightweight aluminum rims. The front fascia will be covered, as there is no front mesh with air intake.

The reason for this is the electrical powertrain of course. There should be 2 levels of headlights, probably thin and stylish. The overall body design will be blocky as is Cadillac’s nature. But it will be ergonomic and aerodynamic to improve performance and fuel economy.

Escalade EXT Pickup Engine Specs

While some things won’t change with the new Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup, the powertrain definitely will change. This might surprise some people, but it was expected. The manufacturer announced they will be implementing an electric powertrain. This brings a lot of benefits to the vehicle. The pickup will be future-proof, for quite some time to be honest. It won’t be affected by new emission regulations. And on top of that, electric powertrains are powerful and well-performing. Meaning it will probably outmatch the internal combustion engine. There are numerous electric pickups on the market and coming up. The list includes Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC’s new Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, Tesla Cybertruck, and others. All of those are powerful and capable pickups that will get the job done. For example, the new Hummer EV pickup has around 1000 horsepower. Which is knocking it out of the park with performance.

The battery is kind of heavy and has a big capacity. But who will argue that when they are getting that type of performance? This can put to shame even the strongest diesel engines. So, there isn’t any official confirmation about the Escalade EXT Pickup powertrain and its specs. But we can conclude some things that are likely to happen. For example, we suspect that at least 2 electrical motors will be in use. Tesla has three Cybertruck options. One, dual and tri-motor option. All of them differ in battery size and power. Rivian has four electrical motors, one for each wheel, which gives amazing power distribution. The strongest Cybertruck gives around 800 horsepower, which is quite enough if you will. So, we are expecting at least 150 kWh battery, but upwards of 200 is more likely to happen.

This would give a great range and would give a commendable performance. Upwards of 800 horsepower, which will be more than enough to haul and tow anything you can imagine. Specifications for towing and hauling aren’t available and we honestly can’t wait for actual tests to be conducted. So, the architecture and platform the Escalade EXT Pickup uses will be brand new. Cadillac can borrow some already existing platforms as well. This would move all the electric powertrain components under the cabin. By doing that, engineers improve the handling and stability of the pickup. This gives extra storage space under the hood, which again is an extra bonus. Adaptable air suspension is also on offer, with locking differentials. There will surely be other cool gadgets and innovations with the new pickup version. So, keep an eye out for more details when they become available.

Driving Range

The range of the new Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup is a mystery at the moment. Due to not knowing the exact weight and battery size, we can’t even do calculations of our own. But we are counting on a big battery and at least 400 miles of range on a single charge.

Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup Price and Release Date

Expect the new Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup to drop later in 2023. Presales might start a couple of months earlier when more details become available. Starting price is not available, but knowing Cadillac and its luxury style we guess a price of $80,000. Not a lot of people are ready to pay more for a pickup. But the manufacturer might surprise us with their build and price.

  1. I was driving into work this morning in my 2016 Escalade and I was just thinking I should write and ask when is Cadillac planning to release a new and improved EXT. I had a 2004 and loved it. So this is great news and I’m looking forward to see the outcome of this amazing vehicle
