The forthcoming 2022 Ford Super Duty is getting a lot of upgrades. For a start, this lineup of impressive trucks will gain larger touchscreen options and new appearance packages that are optional. The Super Duty comes in F-250, F-350, and F-450 variants. Each variant is available in three different cab configurations and you can also opt for single or dual-rear-wheel setups.
As you know, the Super Duty is redesigned in 2020 and most of the styling cues are still there. We don’t expect these models to change aesthetically, but new infotainment and mentioned updates will be more than enough. Nothing will change under the hood either, which isn’t a bad thing as Super Duty is one of the most capable lineups ever made.
2022 Super Duty Packages
The forthcoming 2022 Ford Super Duty will introduce new and optional packages. For a start, the Lariat trim level will from now on offer a Sport Appearance package. The same package is already available in Ford Ranger and Ford F-150 models. This package comes with body-colored exterior features, including the grille, side mirrors, and bumpers. Moreover, the Sport Appearance package adds a chrome exhaust tip and black running boards. Interestingly, this package can be had with the Tremor off-road package.
The second novelty is the Black Appearance package. It is available in the XLT trim and it provides 20-inch black wheels. Additionally, this package paints on black running boards and Ford’s logo. Again, body-colored bumpers are available along with numerous dark accents and trims.
Larger Touchscreen Options
The rest of the updates will happen inside the cabin. The 2022 Ford Super Duty will introduce a couple of upgrades, but upper trim levels won’t feature those updates. The entry-level XL and XLT trim levels are still offering the SYNC3 infotainment with a 4.2-inch display and another 8-inch touchscreen.
The Lariat trim level now offers a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Physical buttons are moved below the large display and now everything is more user-friendly than before. On top of that, Blue Oval will add a new voice recognition system and new safety aids.
Performance
Nothing will change under the bonnet, which isn’t a bad thing. The 2022 Ford Super Duty once again offers the same 7.3-liter V8 gasoline engine with 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, you can get an impressive 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine that develops up to 1050 lb-ft of torque.
Towing capacity is rated at 37,000 pounds with the best possible configuration. You can also opt for the dual-rear-wheels setup. Ford offers a 10-speed automatic transmission and we think the ride comfort is smooth and quiet enough.
2022 Ford Super Duty Price, Release Date
The price of the new 2022 Ford Super Duty starts at $35,000. On the other hand, the range-topping Limited variant will cost almost $90,000. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021, most likely in the fall.
