With the more modern, elegant, techier, efficient, and smarter Silverado 1500 introduced early in the year and also all-new chassis-cab models Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD and 6500 HD, Chevy is now changing the course toward the new generation of the heavy-duty 2500 HD and 3500 HD. The firm already announced the arrival of the new generation Silverado HD models in 2019 as the 2020 version and also released the teaser images.
But before we see the prototype models testing the new-generation design for the extreme towing and loading capability we will get the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD in the same shape and form. The three-quarter-ton Silverado will again appear with the duo of V-8 engines and four trim options. The number of configurations will be about 20 with the three cab styles, two bed lengths and two powertrain options adding to the number of available combinations.
2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD: Design
While the teaser image Chevy revealed recently promises the new sleeker front-end style with the new grille version and headlights combined with streamlined body, we will have the chance to say goodbye to the current design form of the Silverado HD the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD as it will repeat the same design as the current version. The model will continue with the squared body shape and split grille design and will again appear in a number of configurations.
The grille will get unique treatment in almost every trim and the bumpers will also be body-colored or chromed. There will also be the squared-off fender flares which should be softened for the new generation.
Interior:
The model will also deliver the same level of comfort and refinement inside the cabin as we get in the current version. Each upper trim will improve the material quality and level of refinement as well as the tech availability.
The model will come with the well-shaped and supportive seats while also has well-organized controls easy to detect and use. It also has multiple, practical storage compartments in the cabin and Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system will be available in all versions.
Options, Equipment:
The number of cabs will again be three and the model will also combine them with the standard or long cargo bed. The Silverado 2500 will also offer four trim options starting with the Work Truck and improve with LT, LTZ and High Country.
The WT version will begin with the 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, driver information display but will also include the 7-inch MyLink infotainment interface with Apple Car Play and Android Auto features.
The LT will switch to the alloy wheels, an 8-inch infotainment interface, cloth upholstery, improved driver info display, power and heated mirrors, etc.
More refinement will add the LTZ trim with the 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, power and heated front seats, leather padding and more.
The High Country at the top of the line will improve with the 20-inch wheels, side steps, power pedals, navigation, ventilated front seats, premium leather upholstery and a standard package of active safety features.
2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD: Performance, Towing
The 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD will again exploit the same pair of the V-8 engines and that won’t change with the arrival of the new generation Silverado HD although the engines will come with the improved performance.
The base engine on the Silverado 2500 HD remains a Vortec 6.0L V-8 unit. The pair with the engine is a six-speed automatic transmission and power delivery is up to 360hp. The torque limit is at 380 lb-ft. This engine will provide the best of this model regarding the payload capacity with the maximum at 3, 534 pounds.
The greater towing capability will be available with the 6.6-Liter Duramax Turbo Diesel V-8 engine placed under the hood of the three-quarter-ton Silverado. This engine lifts the number of ponies to 450 while the max torque of 910 lb-ft is available at low 1, 600 rpm. This engine comes, however, with the heavy-duty Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission. The towing limit with the diesel power is up to 18, 100 pounds.
2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD: Availability, Price
The last version of the current generation Silverado 2500 should go on sale this fall. The 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD should start from $37, 500. The base model will climb over $40, 000 with additional options. The LT trim should start above $42, 000. The cheapest LTZ version will close to $50k. And the High Country will start from mid-50, 000.
