Another refresh is coming our way, get ready for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. It has not been too long since we got the current generation of Gladiator. Jeep did one restyle three years ago. Although it is not a top seller, it is loved among certain circles of people. Jeep has been synonymous with off-roading. Looking at their vehicles it makes perfect sense. In order for Jeep to gain more traction in the mid-size segment, they need to update its flagship truck. The Gladiator overall is a pretty good pickup. Great power and performance, nice and classic Jeep look.
Not a lot of bad sides to it. But it is a bit outdated compared to its competitors. Introducing a new interior with a completely modern style could be a good selling point. People don’t expect that from a Jeep so this would be a stunning move. On the outside we expect the Gladiator to look like its predecessor. The classic Jeep look is something they are famous for and that should be kept. Under the hood, we could get a new lineup of engines. Perhaps electrification is in order. Let’s read more about the upcoming refresh for the Jeep Gladiator.
Interior Upgrades
On the inside, the new Gladiator looks quite stylish. Designers did a great job with the 2024 Jeep Gladiator and made it stand out in the crowd. Of course, it is off-road centric pickup so it makes sense that the seating needs to be excellent. This means more cushioning and better lumbar support. Ensuring maximum comfort for the ride is a prerogative. Heater and ventilated seats are present, but we won’t be seeing massaging chairs in the Gladiator.
The central infotainment unit on the instrument panel is present. Rumors say it is a 14-inch touchscreen. That way the back row of passengers can also join in on the fun. The dashboard is also digital which is a nice step toward the future. Standard safety features are present and we might even see hands-free driving with the new Gladiator.
Jeep Gladiator Facelift
On the outside, the pickup looks like a classic Jeep. The refreshed 2024 Jeep Gladiator has a lot of semblance with its predecessors and it looks amazing. The cargo bed is standard 5.5 feet long. It has a ride height of over 9 inches which is excellent for off-roading. The tires are 33-inch Goodyear all-terrain with 21-inch lightweight rims.
They shave some weight off the pickup and improve power to weight ratio. If you want to make the Gladiator even lighter, Jeep has you covered. As with most of Jeep’s creations, buyers can opt for a doorless build or without a roof. They are detachable and can be replaced with some great options that you can choose while building your own Jeep Gladiator.
Engine Specs and Gladiator 4xe
Jeep is all about tackling big obstacles. This means the engine has to be capable and durable since it will spend most of its life in the wild. The new 2024 Jeep Gladiator won’t have too many options when it comes to powertrain choice. Currently, on offer, we have a 2.0 engine. This unit is turbocharged and has a four-cylinder setup with Torque Flite eight-speed automatic transmission. This can produce up to 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. This is handy because this is after all a mean off-roader. Extra torque helps it get out of tight spots. This engine is not alone of course. It is part of a PHEV hybrid unit. It comes with a setup of two electric motors.
One for front wheels and one for rear wheels. This is an excellent idea. It is something similar to what Tesla did with their Cybertruck. There are several options and it goes up to 3 electric motors. It means a whole lot of horsepower and a whole lot of torque. So Jeep did think this through actually. The engines alone can run almost 100 miles without any fuel. The fact that they are constantly helping the engine means the engine will last longer and is never under full stress. We believe that Jeep managed to future-proof their Gladiator pickup somewhat. This means that they took a great step toward the future. The only logical step after this would be full electrification.
After all, gas prices are rising constantly, and running on a battery pack is just pure logic. A battery pack of no less than 150kWh would just be enough. If they push it to 200 that would be even better. Ridiculous amounts of horsepower and torque coupled with amazing range on a single charge. The truck will obviously have some sort of fast charging. No one likes standing on a charging station for a whole day just to drive 300 miles. Peer-to-peer charging is something that is new and it allows people to borrow electricity from fellow pickup drivers. This is not happening right now, but perhaps until the 2024 Jeep Gladiator comes out, it becomes a reality. By doing this Jeep would grab a big share of the market.
Fuel Economy is Rated At 19 MPG Combined
The new 2024 Jeep Gladiator is a thirsty pickup. It gets 16mpg in the city, 23 on the highway, and 19mpg combined. Improving hybrid technology and putting a battery pack would solve these issues and pump those numbers up.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Price and Release Date
Starting price is estimated at around $40000 for the basic trim. Of course, more luxurious trims will increase the price and better technology as well. But don’t expect to see the pickup on the road anytime soon. Earliest would be the summer of 2023. Hopefully, the date doesn’t get pushed back due to supply chain issues and the pandemic. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming 2024 Jeep Gladiator.
