GMC is currently working on the new generation Sierra pickup truck. However, the all-new model won’t arrive at least for another year, so the truck manufacturer needs to occupy potential buyers with something. The 2018 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X is the latest trim they introduced and judging by the first impression, the off-road package brings some quite impressive features. However, we have to mention that GMC’s task wasn’t too hard here because they already offer a smaller Sierra 1500 model with the identical package.
2018 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X: Changes and Upgrades
Essentially, the 2018 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X looks pretty much the same as the regular model. The biggest difference is the standard Z71 off-road suspension and special underbody protection. In addition, the heavy-duty pickup truck will feature 18-inch wheels with Goodyear tires. Though, the tires are not any kind, but sport special and aggressive tread pattern perfect for off-roading maneuvers.
The car manufacturer also added an Eaton automatic locking rear differential, plus a spray-on liner for the tray. There is also a tray-mounted black bar for mounting of lookout lights. The exterior changes are minor and mostly cosmetic. However, the new body-color grille surround with All Terrain insert and body-color door handles and bodyside moldings make the truck more attractive. In addition, there are power-adjustable heated and power-folding trailering mirrors, which sport integrated turn signals, as well as LED rear guidance lamps. There are not too many paint options here. More precisely, the producer decided to offer just Black Onyx and Summit White colors. Inside, the 2018 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X comes almost unchanged. The only difference is heated steering wheel and quite useful all-weather floor liners.
Under the Hood
The special off-road truck is offered with two totally different engines. You can choose between 6.0-liter V-8 and the new Duramax 6.6-liter V-8. The Duramax option is capable of delivering 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, while the gasoline V8 stops at 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of twist. Both mills are mated to an Allison six-speed transmission.
Estimated Price
The car manufacturer has not released any pricing information so far. However, judging by the latest reports, the amazing 2018 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X should be priced somewhere around $58,000. The amazing pickup truck should hit GMC’s dealerships in a few weeks.
