There is a new kid on the block, it is the 2024 GMC Hummer EV2X Pickup Truck. This mid-size pickup is a blast from the past. The Hummer is probably one of the most iconic vehicles of the past two decades. It was so popular that even the Terminator drove it. There were military issues made, and it was a style statement. Of course, it was so thirsty for gasoline that at one point it just stopped being worth it. And there were newer and better SUVs on the market. But GMC decided that it was about time that the Hummer received another chance at life.
They are bringing back the famous monster but in the form of both a pickup and an SUV. This is obviously a good thing as it will fill several niches. Also, both vehicles will be all-electric. This is a nice way to future-proof your vehicle and make it ready for tomorrow. Regulations about emissions are changing and GMC decided to be ready when EVs become mandatory. The truck will be resembling its old version but with a lot of improvements. Let’s take a look at the new GMC Hummer.
GMC Hummer EV2X Interior Features
The inside of the pickup is looking rather modern. The new 2024 GMC Hummer EV2X Pickup will have a newly designed cabin. The old one is obsolete and is simply not the style anymore. It will be able to seat five people with plenty of room left. Some premium materials will be in use. Such as chrome and wood along the cabin and instrument panel.
There will be a premium-made Bose audio system. The seating will have massaging feature as well as heating and ventilation. The dashboard will be fully digital which is a nice step toward the future and represents the general idea of the vehicle. Also, the infotainment system is a 12-inch touchscreen which should be big enough.
Exterior Design
The outside of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV2X Pickup looks quite similar to its predecessor. Obviously, it is less blocky and has some curves introduced this time around. But the classic look is still there. There are new tires, 35 inches which are off-road ready. The roof is detachable so you can enjoy some sunshine while on an off-road drive.
The cargo bed is standard length with a modern tailgate. The front fascia has a bit less metal than usual. It is an EV so no traditional engine under the hood. There are unified LED bars across the hood under the Hummer letterings. The bumpers are protruding and give it an aggressive look. Hook and winch capability is present. There are also running boards to the side.
Engine Specs
The old Hummer was a thing of beauty, it was powerful and the synonym for being cool and rich. But the thirsty engine it used to have is considered obsolete at this point and not at all economic. Therefore the new 2024 GMC Hummer EV2X Pickup will be all-electric. This might sound strange to put a battery pack in this monster of a vehicle, but battery packs have come a long way. We know everybody loves a good diesel for their workhorse, but unfortunately, that will soon be a thing of the past. The way the new Hummer was built it will be able to tackle any environment no matter how harsh it is. It will be off-road ready from the get-go with the available toolset.
The battery pack in question is rumored to be up to 350 kWh for the pickup and up to 300 kWh for the SUV. This is a tremendous amount of energy, which is a must, considering what the Hummer can do. It is the heaviest consumer vehicle and it weighs just 9900 pounds. The horsepower rumored for the pickup is about 1000 horsepower, a bit less for the SUV, around 830. Torque is also commendable at 11500 pound-feet of torque. It is not sluggish, which would make sense for a vehicle of this size. The GMC Hummer EV2X pickup can reach 60 mph in just 3 seconds. This is blazing fast and would give some supercars a run for their money. Obviously, GMC had to go out of its way and implement a new platform.
But this wasn’t too much of a problem since they were rebuilding from scratch anyway. Everything will be put under the cabin so there will be some extra cargo space under the hood. Which is convenient, to say the least. The pickup also has adjustable ride height, it can be increased by 6 inches to go over some difficult obstacles. It can crabwalk and has adaptive air ride suspension. Considering that it is an electric pickup there is no noise from the engine so you will be able to enjoy some tunes undisturbed. The battery has 800V dc fast charging, meaning you can get extra 100 miles in a matter of minutes. Ultium batteries can regenerate themselves. There is Regen on Demand and One Pedal Driving. All in all, the vehicle is looking spectacular on paper and the powertrain is simply incredible.
Driving Range
The new 2024 GMC Hummer EV2X pickup will be able to get 350 miles on a single charge. This might sound strange considering the size of the battery. But keep in mind the sheer size and weight of the gargantuan pickup.
2024 GMC Hummer EV2X Price and Release Date
Currently, there are no preorders happening. It was quickly sold out to anticipating buyers. There will probably be more presale opportunities, so keep an eye out. This model will arrive at some point later in 2023. Starting price of around $80,000 sounds perfectly reasonable. It will increase with other trims, Hummer EV2X is $89000, Hummer EV3X is $100,000 and Edition one will cost you around $105000.
