GMC keeps putting smiles on the faces of fans, this time they are remodeling their 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD. As most of you know, the HD family in the Sierra line is made of 2500 and 3500HD. In this situation, 2500 HD basically is the little brother or the smaller one.
Many would expect the bigger truck to be more versatile and utilitarian than the small one. But this doesn’t mean the 2500 HD is useless or less good. Both of these heavy-duty trucks offer a lot in terms of style, utility, technology, and capability. The 2500HD received an update in 2020 so we are not expecting the style to change too much. We are still liking the trucks we liked several years before. We will probably see some new technology and improvements in the cabin and some minor changes on the outside. In terms of improvements under the hood, there wasn’t a need for any but it can always be better.

The new 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD is getting refreshment in the cabin, and might we say it is a much-needed one. The truck is getting some improvements in terms of modernization. This means better technology, better infotainment, better connectivity, and better safety. There will be different trims, and depending on your choice it will dictate the price and the number of amenities available to you.
Sierra has a lot of legroom and headroom so five people can sit without any problems. The Denali trim is the most expensive and luxurious one. So along with high-quality leather, we can expect some wood accents and chrome material in the cabin to make things feel upper class. There is also contrast stitching, this should mean there will be a choice of many colors available to personalize your interior.
Infotainment system
All models come with a heads-up display which is very high tech already. Previous Sierra came with an 8-inch infotainment system. We hope the size will increase this time so everyone can join in on the fun. There is also an AT4 version which is off-road-oriented but still, there will be enough luxury to go around.
Safety Features
In terms of safety, we hope the GMC will put in some driver aiding software. This type of artificial intelligence is a much-sought feature in many trucks. It can save lives and give drivers ease of mind when the road ahead might be dangerous. Perhaps an all-digital dashboard will be available.
Heated and ventilated seats would add much comfort since this is a working horse of a truck and will be used heavily for long periods of time. For making parking easier, manufacturers put numerous cameras in the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD to ensure safety.
Exterior
There are big moves on the outside of the truck. 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD is getting changes in the dimensions area. It is even bigger than before, this makes it even more aggressive and menacing on the road and off it.
Sierra has GMC’s Multipro Tailgate. This means six different tailgate features and settings which you can take advantage of. This can make loading and unloading cargo seem like a piece of cake. Although the lights are unchanged and seem bland, the front grille did get a bit of a redo. The grille is bigger and bolder and this means better air circulation under the hood.
This further allows drivers to push the truck to the limits, which is nice since this truck is meant to go to work hard. With the AT4 model, the off-roading version, we get some serious improvements in quality of life. We have lifted suspension which gives more ground clearance and ensures you don’t get stuck or stranded on some obstacles off the road. There is hill descent control, in case the road is too steep and you don’t want to lose control.
We heard some rumors about the Denali trim having extra LED lights on top of the truck, but the jury is still out on that. There are also power outlets on the outside for when you want to do tailgating the right way. Sensors for lane departure warnings are also available, although we are not sure if they are available on all trims. What makes the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD even more distinctive on the road are the big blocky side mirrors and huge wheels.
Wheels are not there just for looks, although they look mighty nice with some chrome accents which also shave off weight and improve weight to power ratio. The AT4 version will probably arrive with tires suited for off-roading.
2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD Engine Options
The 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD will have two options when it comes to powertrain choice. The basic model should still use the 6.6-liter V8 gasoline-powered engine. This beast produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque which sounds more than enough. It comes paired with 6-speed automatic transmission.
The next option is thankfully even more powerful. The 6.6-liter V8 turbo diesel option boasts 900 pound-feet of torque and 445 horsepower. This engine comes paired with 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. Read wheel drive is available for all trims but with AT4 and Denali there is an added option of all-wheel drive.
There are still rumors about the EV version of the Sierra but we are still waiting to see it and then we will believe it. Maxed out, Sierra can tow around 36.000 pounds which is amazing.
2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD Release Date and Price
We are expecting to see the new 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD hit the road around summertime 2022. But due to the raging pandemic, don’t be surprised if things get pushed back a bit and we get a delay.
The starting price for the basic model is $40,600 and will increase with every improvement you make.
