The upcoming 2022 Honda Ridgeline is getting a mid-cycle refresh. We can confirm that the complete redesign won’t happen, as many reports predicted. Instead, the manufacturer will provide mild upgrades, without dramatic changes. As before, Ridgeline truck will continue to borrow stuff from the Honda Pilot SUV.
It is a reliable pickup with great capabilities, modern design, and a comfortable interior. Of course, we are waiting for Honda to reveal more details, but most of the things are already certain to happen. The price will slightly increase and the Ridgeline truck will go on sale at some point in the second half of 2021.
2022 Ridgeline to Introduce Mid-Cycle Facelift
The current model arrived with an updated front fascia, which includes a larger grille, a new bumper, and reshaped headlights. Because of that, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline will gain minor aesthetic updates. Most of the exterior parts will remain intact. However, the new model will look more rugged and the taillights are revised.
New wheels or exterior paints are a possibility, but this is not official. Ridgeline will continue to offer the same recognizable look and this truck continues to ride on the unibody structure. Lastly, spy shots are available but we couldn’t find anything new. We hope to see more chrome accents on and around the grille and the same two-way tailgate.
Interior Features
The interior of the 2022 Honda Ridgeline continues to offer the same design that is present since 2017. It is an interior design that looks closer to the Pilot SUV and its cabin. Of course, Ridgeline is a pickup truck, so it comes with some unique stuff. The steering wheel is different and the seats are providing better grip.
This famous pickup truck offers standard cloth upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a keyless start system. On top of that, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available once again. The 2022MY will gain an updated infotainment system and probably additional driver-assistance aids. As you probably know, the 2020 Ridgeline was a Top Safety Pick, so the 2022 model will continue in the same fashion.
What About Ridgeline Hybrid and Type R Models?
The approaching mid-size pickup truck could get a new engine, according to the latest reports. However, we think the 2022 Honda Ridgeline will most likely remain intact in terms of performance. This model offers the same 3.6-liter V6 engine with 280 horsepower. On top of that, Ridgeline develops up to 265 lb-ft of torque. It is a reliable engine that is present for years now. Potent V6 unit delivers 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
Towing capacity is rated at about 5,000 pounds. A hybrid powertrain could happen, but Honda is yet to confirm or deny those stories. Ridgeline comes with a standard front-wheel-drive system. Upper trim levels will once again offer a standard all-wheel-drive system. Lastly, the Ridgeline Type R variant is another speculation. It is a high-performance model that will reportedly arrive in 2022 with a different engine and over 350 horsepower.
2022 Honda Ridgeline Price, Release Date
The price of the forthcoming 2022 Honda Ridgeline will slightly increase. The price will now start at around $38,000, while the range-topping trim level will cost closer to $50,000. As before, Ridgeline will compete against established models such as Nissan Frontier, GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
