2023 Nissan Frontier: Diesel, Pro-4X, and Warrior Rumors

Nissan’s Frontier is getting another redesign, and we don’t expect it to be a small one. Frontier is the nameplate Nissan uses for its truck. In some regions, it is Navara, for example, the European Market. In the rest of the world, it is better known as a Frontier. It has been around for over 2 decades and after almost 15 years of running around, it got a redesign last year.

But Nissan didn’t stop there, they are planning another refresh this model year as well. There is fierce competition in the category of mid-size trucks. Especially in the US where people eat and breathe trucks. Ford and GM are worthy opponents and are giving Nissan a run for their money.

What type of improvements Nissan will be making on their 2023 Frontier, is still unknown. Hopefully, the interior gets improved. Certain things were lacking and the overall style is not matching today’s needs. The exterior still looks good, but it can always be better. But under the hood is where Nissan can improve a lot. Some sources indicate that the 2023 Nissan Frontier diesel version has got a green light for production.

Read along to find out more about the extent of changes coming up in the new 2023 Nissan Frontier.

Interior

The inside of the Nissan Frontier was completely changed during the previous remodel. But Nissan thinks there is space for a bit more improvement. Starting with the seats, they are forgoing racing-type seats and implementing better cushioning. Emphasis was put on lumbar support and comfort. No one likes to get a stiff back after driving for a while.

Also heated and ventilated seats are a must at this point. Every manufacturer is implementing them and simply they make driving much more comfortable in the harshest conditions. The instrument panel is already good-looking while covered in high-quality materials like leather and suede. Seats also have the option of material choice, which also includes fabric. Four vents are modern looking and will utilize the air conditioning to its maximum potential.

Dashboard, infotainment, and safety

The infotainment unit is presumably 12 inches in size. This allows the back row of passengers to join in. You can control everything that is connected to the battery this way. Connectivity is standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also get Bluetooth along with wifi hotspot right in the cabin. Buttons and knobs are present, but there aren’t too many of them, which makes us believe Nissan is having a bit of a minimalistic approach. Putting some wooden accents or chrome along the said panel would immensely increase luxury.

After all, trucks are not just working horses anymore, they are a style statement and people use them for their everyday agenda. There are reports that Nissan will put a heads-up display on their Nissan Frontier. Also, the dashboard is becoming digital which will improve functionality and allow drivers to track everything they need.

Buttons can be found on the steering wheel as well, this adds to the safety aspect. Artificial intelligence is usually used to keep everyone on the road safe nowadays. Programs like these include lane change alert, parking help, pedestrian detection, automatic brakes, and other life-saving features. Nissan has their tailor-made software so no worries there. But hands-free driving is becoming more and more popular with trucks.

We already saw Ford and GM implement their BlueCruise and SuperCruise. These amenities allow drivers to relax a bit while still requiring them to stay awake and keep an eye on the road. You can drive on the 200 000 miles of pre-mapped roads on the US interstate roads. A panoramic roof and ambient lightning would also increase the luxury and overall comfort of the truck. It would be very interesting to see if Nissan delivers and improves their Frontier even further.

Exterior

On the outside 2023 Nissan Frontier is becoming more aggressive and meaner. It resides on 18-inch wheel rims. They are lightweight alloys used to shave off weight. Tires are already beefy as standard so expect this truck to take you off-roading a bit. Bumpers are somewhat implemented in the body and are not that prominent.

But they are still mean-looking. The ride height is tall, this will ensure that nothing gets stuck under the Frontier. Cargo bet is standard 5.5 feet and has a modern tailgate with a lot of different options. It can be used as a step, a cargo stopper, a seat, and many more. The front mesh is not as big as on other trucks but it is big enough to let air in. Good air circulation under the hood keeps everything cool and allows drivers to push their trucks to their limits. Headlights are somewhat redesigned and are horizontal and linear.

2023 Nissan Frontier Engine Options

Under the hood, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is powered by a 3.8 liter V6 in the Pro-4X version. It has 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. More than enough to move the big truck around. It has a 9-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive comes as standard and expects 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway with this beast.

Hybrid and electric versions are always on the table. We know that completely electrifying a big truck is possible with great results. It is just a matter of whether Nissan wants to jump through some hoops to make it happen.

Rumors are that there is a Pro-4X Warrior package on the way. It has some revised bodywork and a much stronger engine. Bigger bumpers and a more aggressive look. Built for the off-road. Navara has got a Pro-4X Warrior model which comes powered by a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel unit.

The 2023 Nissan Frontier diesel comes powered by a 2.3-liter turbo-diesel unit and has 160 hp / 295 pound-feet of torque. The diesel powertrain with increased power has 187 hp, and 330 pound-feet of torque.

2023 Nissan Frontier Price and Release Date

Starting price for the new 2023 Nissan Frontier is around $28.000 but the Pro-4X version price starts at $38.000. The diesel base – S version should be priced at $21.000. Other factors come into question when talking about price, like interior trims and such.

But expect to see the new Frontier on the road later in 2022.
