The Super Duty lineup is going to be redesigned soon. According to multiple sources, the company will start testing heavy-duty trucks next year. The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty model is an entry-level version and the truck to watch, if you are after an HD truck. It is more expensive than the famous F-150, but the Series 2 Super Duty model elevates the performance to the next level. We can’t compare these two, since everything the F-150 can do, the F-250 does better.
Under the hood of the truck is a 7.3-liter V8. It is an impressive configuration, but can’t match the performance and capabilities of a turbodiesel. The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is not available with a dual-rear-wheel setup, like the F-350. This configuration is required for the maximum towing capacity of 37,000 pounds. After the redesign, the Super Duty truck might be able to do 40k pounds.
The update of the truck will draw a lot of attention. Ford already launched an all-new F-150 and the small Maverick pickup. Now it is time for the redesign of the Super Duty lineup and the midsize Ranger. All those moves should cement the Blue Oval company as the top truckmaker and give them more room for the development of electric vehicles.
We heard rumors about changes in the Super Duty lineup, and enthusiasts expected to see all-new trucks already as 2024 YM. Obviously, it didn’t happen. The company launched the lineup for the 2024 season and it is mostly unchanged. So, the whole attention now is on the 2025 lineup.
The SuperDuty trucks might borrow some new styling solutions from the smaller sibling. There were similarities in the past. The F-150 was always unique, which makes it the best-seller in the US market. On the other hand, the F-250 offers improved capabilities. The focus is on towing and working, so the cabin is cozier, while the styling won’t be so aggressive. Plus, the Super Duty Raptor is out of the table.
The changes we assume will happen are a completely new front fascia, with updated lights and grille. At the top of the grille will be a big sign. Until the test mules start rolling the streets, we can’t provide further details.
The entry-level powertrain for the F-250 remains a 6.8-liter V8 powerplant. It is available only for the XL model. The new engine returns 400 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. Still, if you want a more serious performance, a 7.3-liter engine steps in for the XLT version. It will be a $7,000 upgrade. In this case, outputs are 430 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The towing capacity is 21,000 pounds.
A turbodiesel can do only a bit better with 21,200 lbs for the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty. If you want 37k pounds, you will need the F-350 truck. A 6.7-liter Powerstroke unit can be pushed even further for the new season. Do not be surprised if the Super Duty becomes the first truck to get to the 40,000-pound towing capacity. Again, you will need the F-350 or F-450 model. The F-250 is limited to 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft. We say “limited” because the Series 3 model does 500 hp and 1,200 pound-feet.
The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is a workhorse, but it can be turned into a home on wheels. The base price is not going to exceed $50k even after the redesign. Still, many truckers won’t be tricked – this is the only version with a 6.8-liter engine. This is definitely the pickup for work with the base equipment.
The XLT is a more serious build. First, thanks to a 7.3-liter V8 petrol engine. Then, alloy wheels replace steel. A 4WD is standard. A few other upgrades are also making this version more attractive, including improved safety. Lariat brings premium options for nearly $10,000. For $67,000, you will get leather seats, a remote start, parking sensors, power-adjustable pedals, a heated steering wheel… The multimedia is enhanced by a larger screen, premium audio, and a wireless smartphone charger.
The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty premium lineup is; King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. You will pay more than $80k for each of these. With all the upgrades, the price enters the six-digit realm. King Ranch boosts the price with 20-inch wheels, a power tailgate, ambient lighting, HUD, extra speakers in an already premium sound system, and a unique interior theme. The safety suite includes rare features – lane keep assistance, trailer backup assist with camera, and onboard scales for payload weight monitoring. After that, Platinum and Limited editions add a few more features to make the truck even more luxurious. Some of the highlights are massage seats, a two-panel sunroof, and genuine leather, or carbon-fiber trim. If you are a fan of the off-road drive, there won’t be the Ford Super Raptor. But, FX4 or Tremor are cool alternatives.
