2022 Nissan Frontier – Third Generation Model Gets a Redesign

The all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier is finally getting a significant update. This iconic model will introduce its third-generation, after almost fifteen years without a significant upgrade. Yes, the new Frontier will continue to ride on the same frame. However, the design is new, the suspension is revised and even the interior is modernized.

Overall, this is a new chapter for the Frontier pickup truck. At this moment, some details are still not available. However, spy photos are here and we know some other things as well. Everyone can’t wait to see the next-gen Frontier, so without further ado, this is what we know about this famous model.

2022 Frontier Spy Shots

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is ready for the modern era. It was an aging model, but the new generation will finally get a lot of modern modifications. For a start, the spy shots are showing some of the visual upgrades. You can easily spot similarities between Frontier and Titan XD models. Their size is almost the same, along with the design language. Thanks to that, some exterior features are exactly the same.

The styling is more attractive and the front fascia will get new rectangular headlamps. On top of that, the grille is new and it looks blockier. Fog lights are reshaped and the rear section comes with new LED taillights. As with any other next-gen model, Frontier will also introduce new wheels, new exterior paints, and more equipment.

Interior Revamp

The cabin will suffer a couple of refinements too. New 2022 Nissan Frontier will look better and the comfort will be at a higher level than before. The goal is to deliver a modern pickup truck, in every possible aspect. Interior is equally important, so Nissan will introduce a new infotainment system and more safety aids.

On top of that, the center stack is redesigned and new touchscreen options are in the works. Frontier will offer controller for 2WD, 4WD Hi, and 4WD Low settings. There will be numerous trim levels in the offer, but we can’t predict the exact list of interior features. Anyway, expect to see additional updates, especially in terms of technology.

Engine Specs

Unfortunately, the new 2022 Nissan Frontier will stick to its 3.8-liter V6 engine. We said, unfortunately, because we hoped to see a new powertrain option. On the other hand, the platform remains and the current V6 unit is a perfect fit. It can develop 310 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is also available once again.

An aging 4.0-liter V6 engine is gone, which is a good thing. New Frontier pickup will deliver improved fuel economy ratings. The current model provides 21 mpg combined, so we expect to see at least minor improvement.

2022 Nissan Frontier Release Date, Price

New model will cost around $29,000. It is a small price increase, given the number of changes and upgrades. The 2022 Nissan Frontier will once again offer its Pro-4X variant that will cost around $40,000. The sales will begin later this year and it seems like everything is ready for the next-gen Frontier.
