We don’t see a lot of content that has pickups and Volkswagen in the same sentence. After all, the German manufacturer is more famous for regular cars. But Amarok is a great pickup despite it not having that American pedigree. Volkswagen also wanted to shut down and discontinue the Amarok truck. But it partnered up with Ford and made it even better. With the renders available and rumors, we can see that the 2023 VW Amarok will look like Ford Ranger. It will be its main inspiration, mechanically and design-wise.
We will have several powertrain options available, the same as is with Ranger. The one we are most excited about is a diesel V6 TDI engine that should arrive in a more powerful Amarok, called the Amarok R. This truck is competing in the same category as Raptor. The new 2023 VW Amarok will be longer and wider in the body. This ensures a bigger cabin, not that it needed one. It was able to seat five people without any problems but you can never have enough comfort and luxury.
We are expecting VW to put a lot of goodies inside the truck. Expect heated and ventilated seats to be available, after all this truck is supposed to be used for longer than just a regular drive. This type of seat will ensure comfort even off the road. The upcoming 2023 VW Amarok will borrow transmission from the ranger. This means a 10-speed automatic or 6-speed automatic transmission depending on the engine choice.
Talking about engines we know there will be several options. Amarok will use a V6 from Ford, the same one that the American manufacturer is putting into Ranger. This beast proved powerful with towing and hauling so no mistakes there. It is a 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel but exact specifications in terms of horsepower and torque are not known as of now. There is also a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder engine. There are rumors about an all-electric vehicle or a hybrid and we hope VW is able to make it happen.
