The upcoming 2022 Ram 1500 will try to continue with domination in its segment. As before, the main competitors are the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 models. Because of that, the manufacturer will look to provide further upgrades. This means the 2022MY will gain updates in almost every category. However, the changes are not so drastic. Ford will soon introduce the F-150 Electric model and a hybrid variant is already available. Ram will need to make a huge step forward by also introducing an all-electric powertrain.
However, that won’t happen this year, but a hybrid variant will be in the offer. It seems like Ford is taking a win here. However, Ram offers an impressive TRX model with plenty of power. Whatsoever, this model will generate over 700 horsepower. As for the regular Ram 1500, things under the hood will remain intact. The sales will start later this year and here’s everything we know about this arriving pickup truck.
Ram 1500 Redesign
The 2022 Ram 1500 will wear the same design that the manufacturer introduced two years ago. It is a relatively fresh look so drastic changes won’t happen. Instead, Ram will deliver another mid-cycle facelift. The front fascia will wear the same grille but the headlights will be slimmer than before. What is great about this model is that the Ram offers halogen, LED, and adaptive LED headlights.
The rear section won’t change either, along with the side profile. The manufacturer will surely offer some new optional exterior features and new exterior colors. The mentioned TRX version comes with a wider stance and it looks both sportier and more aggressive. It also offers more ground clearance and plenty of off-road equipment.
Interior Features
The interior of the 2022 Ram 1500 will gain slightly more updates than the exterior. This means the 2022MY will gain various technology updates and some new features. For a start, the cabin design will largely remain, just like the seating layout. Luckily, Ram offers various cab configurations. The interior is very upscale and Ram also offers a lot of trim levels and special editions.
When it comes to standard equipment, Ram 1500 offers power-adjustable features, a rearview camera, and cloth upholstery. If you want more luxury, upper trim levels are equipped with leather upholstery, sunroof, and plenty of other premium amenities. We hope to see the next-gen Uconnect5 infotainment system in this model.
Ram Offers Gasoline, Diesel and Hybrid Variants
As we said, the 2022 Ram 1500 won’t change under the hood. This means the famous pickup will once again offer both gasoline and diesel powertrain options. On top of that, a hybrid model is also available. We already mentioned Ford F-150 Electric, but Ram still won’t offer an all-electric version, which is a potential problem. As for the traditional engines, a 3.6-liter gasoline unit is standard. It can generate 305 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.
A 5.7-liter Hemi is an optional gasoline engine with 395 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. As for the diesel, the familiar Ecodiesel engine is in the offer. This output is rated at 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. With a diesel engine, Ram 1500 can tow almost 13,000 pounds. Lastly, the hybrid variant combines a 3.6-liter V6 engine with the e-Torque system. This combination creates a mild-hybrid powertrain that provides 305 hp and 270 lb-ft of twisting power.
2022 Ram 1500 Release Date, Price
The price of the new 2022 Ram 1500 should once again start below $30,000. A hybrid model will cost around $35,000 or slightly below that. The plan is to release the new Ram 1500 in the second half of 2021. If the Covid-19 outbreak finally stops, this model will hit the dealerships around September.
