The 2025 Toyota Tacoma comes with fresh styling and powertrains. There are no too many other things the truckmaker can do. The TRD Pro package is still there, but the Trailhunter is more suitable for overlanding and camping. The Tacoma EV is also going to become available soon. The company introduced the plans, but the production start date is not unveiled yet.
We can already praise a few things about the new 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The truck will be reliable, as always. Also, the resale value is expected to be one of the reasons of popularity. The engine is new and a 2.4-liter turbo-four is an excellent replacement for a V6. The truck is becoming more efficient. A hybrid system is also available. The TRD Pro is the off-road specialist. Engineers might revisit the package after 10 years since the debut. If you want to try something new, there is the Trailhunter model.
The power source for the 2025 Toyota Tacoma is a 2.4-liter turbo engine with 228 hp in the base form. There are manual and automatic transmissions available. The stick is a 6-pace case, while auto has 8 gears. A rear-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional. The iForce system improves the output to 279 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, while the iForce Max can deliver 326 hp and 465 lb-ft. For these configurations an 8-speed automatic gearbox is the only power router. TRD Pro and Trailhunter feature a different suspension setup for a smoother off-road drive. New engines are going to tow more than its predecessor. Most rivals could do more than 7,000 pounds, while Tacoma was sitting at 6,500 lbs.
The next stage of evolution is the 2025 Toyota Tacoma EV. The electric pickups market is still not so popular. The reason is simple – you can’t trick truckers. New systems can tow a lot, but the energy consumption is high and the technology is still pretty expensive. The Tacoma EV might debut as a concept vehicle in 2025, but the production is not starting so soon.
It is just a matter of time when the electric model is going to take over the market. A hybrid system is already available and off-road performances of the iForce Max setup are being praised. If you are bored by the TRD Pro model, the new Trailhunter is there to revive the interest in overlanding. You can set up the camp easily with all the gear it offers. It also uses the EMU Old Man suspension. Power tailgate is a cool accessory, and just one of many you can expect on the all-new pickup.
The Trailhunter adds a new dimension to the Tacoma lineup. The TRD lineup is cool and the TRD Pro is the top trim. The PreRunner is a revived nameplate for the all-new truck. The main difference is in the suspension system. The whole TRD squad is using leaf springs, while the Trailhunter is packed with the multi-link coil rear suspension.
The 2025 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is also equipped with a nice equipment, such as large 14-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch driver’s display. Latest Safety Sense suite is also there with best features. On the other hand, we miss super-comfortable seats from the TRD Pro version. On the other hand, aluminum skid plates can’t beat steel. There are also a few other easy-to-spot differences, such as unique grille, snorkel, bronze wheels…
When the truck is a best-seller, it means you won’t find too many bad things. We can complain about the price, but you are getting more. But, the midsize truck missed on the new 10-speed auto transmission. Truckers just love it on the new Tundra. While the manual transmission is available for the base model, you can’t select it for the TRD Pro. Also, this version tows less than before, but it is not the main purpose.
The new generation brings a new pricing for the 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The base version will definitely be more expensive. We expect it around $34,000. The base TRD model should cost just under $40,000, while the TRD Pro will be above $65,000, mostly thanks to the new hybrid unit with extra power. The Trailhunter is not going to be any cheaper. For the Tundra, this version is even more expensive.
