2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel: Specs, Price, and Release Date

New releases are happening all around, and this time it is the 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel. Tundra is one of the all-time popular trucks. It has been in production for over two decades, 1999 to be exact. For over 20 years, this pickup has been topping the sales charts. Toyota has done many things properly with Tundra and they are looking to keep the streak going.

The announcement from Toyota didn’t come as a complete surprise. The current model is only a few years in production. But times are changing, and remodeling is becoming more frequent. Technology is advancing faster and designs are going out of style much quicker. So manufacturers have to keep their vehicles up to date by refreshing or remodeling them more often. What kind of changes we can expect is still uncertain.

There is no clue if this is going to be a small remodel or a major overhaul. There are some things Toyota can update on the inside. On the outside small tweaks are probable, but nothing drastic we believe. The biggest changes might be happening under the hood. Hybrid versions are popular nowadays, and completely electric vehicles are a reality now. There is a diesel variant on the table as well, which we see with many other manufacturers. Let us dig into the review and see what is in store for us with the new 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel.

Interior

On the outside, there is some serious overhaul needed. The current Tundra simply isn’t on par with other trucks when it comes to style. We aren’t looking for the most luxurious cabin possible. But it would still be nice to be able to relax and enjoy the ride with style. This means the change is starting with the seats. Forget about the good old racing-type seats. Putting proper cushioning and making them ergonomic with lumbar support is just enough to keep passengers happy.

2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone Interior

If Toyota wants to do even more, perhaps add several options when it comes to production material. Leather, suede, and fabric are the most popular ones. Contrast stitching should also help a lot when it comes to style. Adding multiple color choices for 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel seats is preferable and it would allow people to fully customize their pickups. Heated and ventilated seats are very common nowadays so we see no other option on Toyota’s side.

Dashboard and Cab Options

The 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel instrument panel is lined with leather which looks great if we may add. There are four major vents on it and they are not an eyesore. There is an infotainment system. The size is still unconfirmed but we suspect it will be around 14 inches considering the sheer size of Tundra. This would allow the back row of passengers to join in on the fun. Talking about passengers, this truck can fit five people comfortably without sacrificing anything. There is plenty of headroom and legroom to go around.

Certain cab options are Double Cab and CrewMax. Others need to wait for official confirmation from Toyota. Connectivity is standard. There is Bluetooth with a Wi-Fi hotspot in the cabin. Also, in the new 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel, you can get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. The steering wheel has a lot of buttons, perhaps too many if you ask us. But this way drivers keep their eyes on the road and don’t have to look to the side when changing something.

Safety Features

There is driver aid software that increases the safety aspect but we are not sure which one Toyota is going to use in the new 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel. Perhaps they have their tailor-made one. But we would also love to see something similar to SuperCruise. Hands-free driving is all the rage nowadays and all manufacturers will eventually have to implement it. Question is, how quickly will Toyota succumb to it.

Exterior

On the outside, the 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel is looking mightier than ever. The blocky look isn’t all gone. But there are some curves and angles that make it more ergonomic and aerodynamic. This in turn also delivers better fuel economy.

There is a huge mesh on the front fascia with the well-known Toyota logo. The headlights are changed to a more linear look with the latest LED technology for better visibility. Wheels are 19 inches lightweight alloy. This is done to save some weight and improve the power-to-weight ratio on this beast.

Because of this, the truck is faster, spends less fuel, and also drives better. We are still uncertain whether there are off-reading tires as standard but we are hoping for a package for more adventurous people.

2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel Engine Specs

There are no official statements yet but we can already suspect which powertrains will be under the hood of the 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel.

There is a 5.7 liter V8 that uses gas. We have a twin-turbo V6 that can be found in many of Toyota’s creations. The before-mentioned V8 creates 380 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

But the biggest news splash is the diesel powertrain. Which exact engine that will be used is not known. However, there are some reports that the diesel engine they plan on using Land Cruiser 3.3 liter V6 turbo-diesel which can produce over 304 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This of course comes with better fuel efficiency as well.

Hybrid powertrains are old news for Toyota so we have no doubt they will do a proper job and make a good hybrid system. Also, an all-electric truck is in the making per some reports.

2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel Price and Release Date

Starting price for the basic version of the 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel is around $35.000. Of course with some better packages and more amenities, the price can spike up to $50.000.

We can expect to see the new 2023 Toyota Tundra Diesel on the road in late 2022.
