The forthcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is ready for more drastic upgrades. However, we are not talking about the complete redesign. Instead, Silverado pickup will arrive with mid-cycle refreshments. That still includes some dramatic changes. Silverado 1500 is one of the most reliable pickup trucks in its segment. As before, the rivalry with Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 continues. Each year, those models are getting additional updates and the 2022MY is no different.
And while all three models are competitive, it seems like the Silverado is losing the battle. Whatsoever, both Ram and Ford are offering much better high-performance variants. Still, Silverado continues with the updates. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021. This is everything you need to know about the approaching Silverado.
2022 Silverado 1500 Gets Mid-Cycle Facelift
New 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is getting further exterior updates. The spy shots are already available and we spotted some of the updates. For a start, the new Silverado will gain new design of the front fascia. Furthermore, even the rear section is slightly different. Chevrolet will deliver new wheels for some trim levels and we also expect to see new exterior colors.
Still, some exterior refreshments are perfectly hidden under the heavy camouflage. New tailgate is a rumor, but this is not confirmed yet. Anyway, the front part will now host new daytime running lights and a two-tiered lighting setup. Chevrolet will reveal more details in the coming weeks.
Significant Interior Changes
The upcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will introduce an all-new interior design. The changes are significant and the new cabin will look like the interior of the new GMC Sierra pickup. First of all, the Silverado model will introduce overhauled dashboard and redesigned center stack. Larger touchscreens options are available as well, both standard and optional units.
The center console is also new and Silverado will arrive with a new gauge cluster with the digital display. The column shifter is gone and a new gear selector is in place. According to Chevrolet, Silverado will deliver unique storage features and a larger sunroof. Finally, the famous pickup truck will introduce more standard features and new optional safety aids.
Silverado Continues to Offer Gasoline and Diesel Engines
New 2022 Chevy Silverado won’t change its engine lineup. A 5.3-liter V8 gasoline engine is standard once again. This familiar engine produces 355 horses and 380 lb-ft of torque. 6.2-liter gasoline is optional. This larger powertrain option generates 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of twisting power.
Lastly, a 3.0-liter diesel is another optional powertrain. The diesel engine develops 277 hp and up to 460 lb-ft of torque. A hybrid powertrain is not official yet, but it could happen. Silverado definitely needs to introduce some sort of electrification. As you know, Ford F-150 will arrive with the hybrid powertrain and even the all-electric variant is coming to the markets.
2022 Chevy Silverado Release Date, Price
The all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will now cost $33,500. Its sales will begin later this summer and Chevrolet will once again offer eight trim levels. Silverado gained some significant updates and we can’t wait to see it on the roads.
