The fast-evolving pickup truck segment continues to receive more capable and sophisticated models and a number of variants are also growing. The truck makers have also focus on the off-road-specialized versions and new models continue to be introduced. Ram recently launched a Ford Raptor’s rival the Ram Rebel TRX while the heavy-duty, off-road-ready 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon goes on sale with no significant upgrades. New for the 2021 model year is a 75th Anniversary Edition introduced to celebrate a long-living nameplate.
The next Ram 2500 Power Wagon returns in the Crew Cab configuration only and excessively with the 6’4” cargo box. The model is again powered by the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine mixed with serious off-road-specialized hardware. The Power Wagon gets also specific exterior and interior treatment but the package can also be had with a crew-cab Tradesman V-8 4WD when it skips aesthetic enactments but comes equipped with all off-road goodies.

The off-road-ready 2021 Ram Power Wagon continues to rely on the same hardware and its exterior and in-cab design are unchanged. The news is a new 75th Anniversary special edition version that comes with some unique exterior and interior enhancements and more premium features.
The Ram Power Wagon has a more rugged presence than regular versions signaling its hardcore off-road capabilities. The model employs a Rebel-style grille and specific front bumper with a factory-installed winch rated at 12, 000 lbs. Knobby DuraTrac all-terrain tires wrapped around the 17-inch aluminum wheels are also a part of the package. The model includes also additional underbody protection, unique graphics, unique color patters, etc.
The new special edition version comes with unique 17-inch bead-lock wheels, Mopar rock rails, specific grille insert, etc. There are also dark-themed headlights installed on the model’s front fascia. The new truck variant has also specific badges on the C-pillar as well as decals on the doors and tailgate. Anvil and Go mango Orange color options are also exclusive to this special edition version.
The cabin of the 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon shares many design features with the light-duty Ram and adds several unique elements.
The model uses durable vinyl upholstery by default and black and graphite inserts. The Power Wagon comes also standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and with a unique instrument cluster with the model-specific smoked appearance. Buyers ready to pay more can demand a 12.0-inch display, leather upholstery, 360-degree cameras, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, premium sound system and more.
The new special edition version employs Longhorn diamond black leather upholstery. There are also a model-specific 75th Anniversary badges embossed on the front seats. A dark brushed aluminum and gloss black inserts are also present inside the cabin. A new version gets also a 12.0-inch touchscreen 17-speaker Harmon Kardon premium sound system as standard equipment.
There are no changes to the off-road hardware and powertrain of the 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. All Power Wagons come with a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine good for 410 hp and torque of 429 lb-ft. The model relies also on a specific 4-wheel drive system. A mighty turbocharged 6.7-liter six-cylinder diesel engine isn’t again available. A part of the drivetrain is also 8-speed automatic transmission.
The model employs a capable two-speed, four-wheel drive with a 2.64:1 low-range setting. The front and rear live axles with locking differentials and 4.10:1 gear ratio is also part of the equipment list. The Power Wagon gets also a specific suspension setup with Bilstein gas-charged shocks. The front wheels articulation is 26.0 inches and the model boast 14.6 inches of ground clearance. With the gear employed properly, the model can engage almost all terrains.
The off-road-ready 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon should hit the market late in the year. Buyers who want a heavy-duty truck with serious off-road hardware should be ready to pay about $55, 000 for its base variant. With some of the available options installed the price will easily go above $60, 000.
