2020 Ford F-150: News, Hybrid, Release

Ford continues the decades-old domination in the pickup market and both the light-duty and Super Duty models lead the sales charts. The top-selling, half-ton F-150 is constantly the step ahead of the competition but the all-new, light-duty models for the 2019 model year are indeed better than ever. But Ford refreshed the F-150 for the 2018 model year and there was a number of upgrades of the 2019 version as well.

The high-performance Raptor model received the upgraded suspension, new Traction Control system and safety features but its bi-turbo V-6 engine Ford offers also with the Limited version from the 2019 model year. The diesel-powered variant also arrived and more advanced safety systems become the standard equipment.

However, there is no time for rest in the fast-growing pickup market and the Blue Oval Brand is readying the new round of upgrades for the new decade and the 2020 Ford F-150 version. Ford promised dozens of the electrified vehicles by 2022 and the F-150 hybrid is also the part of the plan. The fast-selling model will also offer new options and expand the availability of some equipment in lower grades for the 2020 model year.

2020 Ford F-150: Powertrains

Unfortunately, Ford hasn’t revealed many details of the F-150 hybrid version except that production will take place at Dearborn truck plant. But the system is expected to configure the petrol engine in the combination with the transmission unit and the electric motor between them. The result should be improved performance and efficiency but not radically.

On the other hand, the 2020 Ford F-150 will keep the range of the non-turbo, turbo and diesel options from the current version.

Introduced for the 2018 mid-update 3.3-liter non-turbo V-6 will continue as the base power unit. This engine makes 290 hp and torque of 265 pound-feet in the mix with the six-speed automatic transmission.

A 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 will again be the choice of many buyers and provide better than base performance. The engine will come in the combination with the 10-speed automatic gearbox. The power it delivers is 325 hp and torque 400 lb-ft.

The reliable and recently upgraded 5.0-liter V-6 will be another non-turbo unit. The 10-gear auto transmission will also be bolted to this engine which provides 395 hp and torque 400 lb-ft.

The next in the performance hierarchy will be a 3.5-liter bi-turbo V-6 in two states of tune. The engine will make 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque in one variant while the Limited and mighty Raptor will get the version with the power and torque at 450 hp and 510 lb-ft.

If none of these is the solution the diesel-powered F-150 will be the option. A quiet 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 will provide 30 mpg highway and the max towing of 11, 400 pounds. The engine develops 440 lb-ft of torque and power of 250 hp.

2020 Ford F-150: Styling

Ford refreshed the F-150 model for the 2018 model year and there won’t be notable visual modifications until the next redesign. So, the 2020 Ford F-150 will repeat the current exterior form and offer possibly new color options, wheel design and exterior theme. There will again be the various grille versions and more or less chrome, black or body color treatment. The wheel options will also range from the 17-inch steel units to 22-inch alloys.

As for the hybrid version, it won’t showcase the radically different styling. The difference will be in the details like the unique wheels, badging and pieces.

Interior, Equipment:

The 2020 F-150 will provide high comfort and modern tech interiors in three cab styles. The design will remain the same and the material quality will vary from the durable less costly vinyl and cloth upholstery to the high-quality, sewed leather in the combination with the attractive trim accents.

The equipment list will also include the high-comfort features like the multi-contour seats, heating and ventilating functions, power features, etc. The modern tech systems will also be the part of the offer. The newest Sync infotainment system will be available as well as the premiums sound system. An array of the advanced safety equipment will also be available with more systems available in lower trims.

2020 Ford F-150: Release, Price

The 2020 Ford F-150 will hit the market in late 2019 while more details about the hybrid version should appear soon. Expect the price again from high-20, 000 and above $70k in the most expensive version.
