Volkswagen is about to throw its gloves in the ring by making the 2023 VW Amarok a reality. When we talk about pickup trucks, our mind immediately goes to the North American continent. Most pickup manufacturers are there or at least were based in the USA. Some of the most popular ones are Ford, GM, RAM, Chevrolet, and many others.
But pickups aren’t exclusive to the USA and a famous European manufacturer decided to give it a go. Volkswagen has been making Amarok for some time and is ready to redesign the already great pickup. The new 2023 VW Amarok is looking to fix all that was wrong and make up for all the shortcomings of its previous versions. This midsize truck was amongst the top-selling ones even though the manufacturer doesn’t have the pedigree for pickups.

Interior
The interesting news is that the 2023 VW Amarok was made in a joint effort by Volkswagen and Ford. This means that we can expect a lot of features borrowed from Ford’s Ranger. This is of course great news since the Ranger is one of the most sold trucks to date. It is very popular on all continents and is a working horse as well as a stylish pickup. Although we don’t expect it to be a complete copy of the Ranger, Amarok should borrow a lot of good features and tweak them to improve them further. Interior Features
There was a need to make it look like a Volkswagen and put some Volkswagen DNA into the truck. Expect to see some styling on the steering wheel. Preferably some leather accents and great stitching to give it durability over the years. Technology has advanced a lot so we could be seeing an all-digital dashboard, some fans are not going to be happy with it since it is easier for them to follow the analog speedometer.
Leather and cloth upholstery, basic trims will probably be with cloth and cost far less. But we will be able to choose from several trims based on our needs and the depth of our pockets. Central infotainment system as is seen in most pickups nowadays. A 12 inch should do, with connectivity via Bluetooth. Also, it is going to be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to ensure no problems with smartphone connectivity.
The surround system isn’t going to be anything spectacular, but it is still going to be good enough to let you enjoy your favorite tunes on the long drives. With the nice starting point from Ford Ranger and some Volkswagen ingenuity, we are sure that the new VW Amarok 2023 is going to be amazing. Exterior
Although VW and Ford cooperated on this project, it is said that the exterior design is all on Volkswagen. So it is a remodel of the previous version and the German manufacturer is trying to make things more modern, make the truck more aggressive, and also keep the sporty and stylish look.
It is going to be a double cab version. But it would be nice to see other cab versions just since not every driver has the same needs. This is an off-road beast and they said no obstacle is too much for the 2023 VW Amarok. It has big plastic protection around the wheels. The Amarok 2023 is not afraid to get its hands dirty, or should we say wheels. Talking about wheels, they are huge. After all, it’s an all-terrain vehicle and they look like 18-inch wheels which is more than enough to surpass even the most difficult terrain.
The grille doesn’t get bigger than this, it is almost from side to side and it also spans vertically. This makes the 2023 VW Amarok look angry and that’s what your off-road pickup should look like if you ask us. Bigger the grille, the better the airflow under the hood. This will help with cooling your engine and other components. So if you are going to push the Amarok to the limits you don’t have to worry about overheating issues.
There is a set of new lights, there is a bar of LED lights in the front. This is sure to improve visibility at night and improve driver safety. On the top not only do you have rails, but you also have a place to tighten several canisters.
2023 VW Amarok Engine Options
No reason to not borrow a good engine from their friends at Ford. Per sources, the 2023 VW Amarok is going to use V6 sourced from the American manufacturer, the same one Ford put into Ranger. This engine proved it can do wonders with hauling and towing, while also having good acceleration.
It is a 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel, there is also a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder engine.
But some fans are most delighted at the news that there is a possibility of a hybrid version as well as a fully electric vehicle version. No official confirmation about this as of yet, but this would be a good step for Volkswagen towards going green and helping save the planet.
2023 VW Amarok Price and Release Date
No official release date in mind, but there are rumors the new 2023 VW Amarok should hit the shelves sometime late 2022 or the first quarter of 2023. The later date is not ideal but if it gives Volkswagen more time to fix what is needed to perfect the truck, then sure take your time.
There is no official statement about the price, but our speculations would put the car in the $35.000 ballpark for the basic trim.
