Even though it’s really amazing, Ford’s super-cool Raptor won’t stay the most impressive pickup truck for long. That place will become reserved for the 2018 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat. Not so long ago, the truck manufacturer revealed the concept version, while the production model should be officially introduced early next year.

So far, Ram’s most powerful gasoline pickup relied on a 6.4-liter HEMI V8. The engine is capable of producing up to 410 hp and 429 lb-ft torque, which is quite impressive, yet not good enough to beat Raptor’s 450 horsepower strong 3.5-liter twin-turbo unit. The 2018 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat will, on the other hand, get a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat mill. The mighty engine can develop a staggering output of 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of twist. However, the manufacturer isn’t planning that many ponies under the hood of the 2018 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat. Although we have no official information yet, our insider claims that the output should be limited to 575 horsepower. In any case, it’s pretty clear that the system will power all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The monster truck won’t have just a big engine and nothing more. In order to receive a mighty mill, the carmaker needs to upgrade the platform. Plus, it’s preparing a special suspension system. Well, okay not too special. It will use Ram 1500’s front axle and link coil setup in the rear, yet beefed enough for the engine. Speaking of which, the Hellcat monster is pushed back further on the front shocks, reportedly for better hauling capability.
The carmaker will work out on truck’s look as well. The vehicle will ride on special 22-inch wheels with special tires. In the front, the vehicle sports a special treatment in form of an impressive hood design with a large scoop and a massive bumper with a huge air intake, which is quite expected, because the engine needs to be cooled off as much as it’s possible.
Ram’s design team won’t skip the interior for sure. The powerful truck will likely get some special treatment. We expect the finest Alcantara leather treatment with SRT or Hellcat badges all around. The dash will feature some special inserts, perhaps aluminum detail, while teach department should add the best possible equipment including the 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment and 900-watt Harmon Kardon.
You are probably asking how much money you will have to set aside for the 2018 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat? Well, there is no official information at the moment, but the latest rumors suggest it’s going to cost at least $60,000.
