SEMA auto show is always hosting some amazing cars, but most of them never hit the production lines. This year is different because the show in Las Vegas serves previewed a production model of one amazing truck. We are talking about the 2018 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 – a pickup which features Raptor’s genes and six-wheels, as well as a six-figure price. The potential buyers can get the base model for $295,000, which is nothing compared to topper’s cost of exactly $349,000. The difference between the options is really huge, because the starter hosts Raptor’s unchanged 3.5-liter twin-turbo with 450 horsepower, while the topping VelociRaptor 6×6 pumps out significantly more power from the engine. Still, in case you have this amount of money, it will be pretty hard to get one of the kind because Hennessey plans to sell just 50 pieces.
Like we said already, the 2018 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 uses the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost like the regular Raptor. However, in contrast to usual 450 horsepower, the mighty pickup gets over 600 ponies under the hood. More precisely, there will be exactly 605 horsepower and 622 pound-feet of torque. It was not too easy to squeeze the additional 155 hp and 112 lb-ft of twist from the engine. No, Hennessey had to use new turbochargers and significantly bigger intercooler. Plus, there is a full ECU tuning, as well as a high-flow exhaust system.
The VelociRaptor 6×6 also gets a totally different exterior styling of course. The six-wheeler is featuring unique front and rear bumpers, and more LED elements. Do we need to mention different wheel arches and larger wheels? All six wheels are 20-inch and wrapped in Toyo off-road tires. The upgraded Fox suspension and locking rear axle are standard here, as they are Brembo brakes.
Hennessey made some improvements inside as well. The truck sports bespoke interiors and far better-armoring systems. Plus, the carmaker has upgraded the existing electronics.
The topping 2018 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6 definitely makes a statement, but we are wondering if the statement worth all $349,000, or the manufacturer wants to earn too much money from the high-performance truck, which looks awesome by the way. In any case, you can order the vehicle right away in several Ford dealerships or directly from Hennessey.
