2018 Ford F-250 – Diesel, Price, Towing Capacity

Ford has released brand new F-250 a year ago. With new chassis, interior tweaks, upgraded engine and improved towing capacity this Super Duty has brought some new rules among hardworking pickups. With some minor changes and tweaks new 2018 Ford F-250 will try keep the legacy of its predecessor and dominate in the HD pickup truck segment.

2018 Ford F-250: Engine and MPG

2018 Ford F-250 comes with a 6.2 liters Regular Gas V-8 engine as standard. This mill produces 385 HP with 430 lb-ft or torque and a towing capacity of 15,000 lbs. Another optional engine model includes a Turbo-diesel 6.7-liter V-8 engine producing 440 HP coupled with 925 lb-ft of torque. It has options for 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions with 4×4 and 4×2 drivetrain variants. Considering fuel economy, it provides 15 mpg in cities and 21 mpg on highways. However, low EPA ratings of 9 or 10 mpg have also been reported with previous versions.

Towing capacity

Towing capacity of 2018 Ford F-250 ranges from 15,000 lbs to a maximum of 18,600 lbs. To get maximum towing ability, a 6.7 liter V-8 is preferable with gear ratio of 3.5 or 3.73. In terms of payload, it figures to 3600 lbs to 3700 lbs for its 4×2 version. While the 4×4 version ranges between 3280 to 3380 lbs. Noteworthy to mention, a heavier drivetrain in the 4×4 variant increases towing capacity by 400 lbs.

Exterior and Interior

New F-250 boasts a frameless front end and LED vertical headlights which bracket around its horizontal two-bar grille with Ford logo in the middle. In addition to this, a huge bumper will be provided fitted with square shaped classy fog lamps. Sharper taillights adorn its rear with towing hooks at both ends while “back payload bed” has remained unchanged. For better grip larger wheels of 18 inches will be provided fitted with LT275/65R18 tires at both ends while optional 20-inch wheels will also be provided available.

Speaking of interiors, 2018 Ford F-250 provides a seating capacity of 3 passengers at the front bench. 10 way power seats with Dual Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control is also included. Infotainment has been taken care of with Sony HD CD/MP3 player and 4-speaker HD Radio. An 8-inch touchscreen and auxiliary audio input control come in as standard.

Safety

Ford has also paid a lot of attention to ensure the safety of its passengers. Front and rear airbags, Belt-Minder, “SecuriLock” Anti-Theft Recognition, Remote Less Key Entry and 4-Wheel ABS are standard on all variants. Along with these, optional features include side-mounted airbags, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control.

Competition and Price

New F-250 will lock horns directly with Chevrolet’s Silverado 2500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD, Ram 2500 and Nissan Titan XD. It will have a price bracket of $34,000 going up to $60,000. With eager people waiting to get their hands on this luxurious Pickup, 2018 Ford F-250 is likely to be released in the first quarter of the 2018.
