2018 Dodge Dakota – Exterior and Interior Changes

Introduced in 1987 as a great mid-size pickup truck, the Dodge Dakota has been a mainstay in Chrysler’s automobile lineup. A favorite amongst customers and enthusiasts, this truck has gone through three generations of upgrade and a probable fourth generation is on its way. This latest update would come in the form of a brand new 2018 Dodge Dakota.

Chrysler has not finalized any date of release, but customers can expect this pickup to be available in US markets by the last quarter of 2017. Now, as Dakota’s older models were such a big hit, enthusiasts and interested buyers have many questions regarding this latest incarnation.

2018 Dodge Dakota – Powertrain

Petite information has been disclosed by Chrysler regarding engine specs and changes. However, customers can expect to get a 3.7-liter V6 engine as standard; which will produce close to 215 HP at around 240 lb-ft of torque. Customers will get a towing capacity of approximately 7200 lbs. The bigger engine will come as an option and it will be 4.7-liter V8 with 280 horses.

Transmission setup will probably be a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual, depending on which variant is chosen. Fuel economy wise; expect this Dodge Dakota 2018 to give around 30 mpg on an average.

Exterior Changes

As far as exterior design is concerned, don’t expect to see any radical changes when compared to this pickup’s older models. Designers will look to preserve this car’s iconic exterior outlook and build their upgrades around the central design.

To make this pickup look more modern, new design theme will be more aerodynamic. So, expect to see smoother edges and prominent ridgelines all across this new 2018 Dodge Dakota. The pickup will probably come with a unibody platform; this is also going to be a bit bigger and longer than its predecessors. Customers will also see a redesigned front fascia with new LED headlights bracketing Dodge’s iconic emblem and front grille. Other features that will come standard in front include a pair powerful fog lamps and front towing hooks/hitches.

Interior Features

Expect to get a bigger truck cabin space in this new version of Dodge Dakota. Chrysler’s new truck will come with an interior loaded with a myriad of modern facilities. Guessing these announcements are accurate, one can expect this 2018 Dodge Dakota to get a new multi-functional steering wheel for a more easily controllable driving experience. The center console will house a more impressive audio entertainment system. Bluetooth and USB facilities will also come as standard in this truck. In order to improve safety, Dodge may provide a new and improved cruise control system. This pickup will also come with standard airbags for drivers and co-passengers.

Price

Expected price for this new 2018 Dodge Dakota should start from around $25,000.
