2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD gets new engine

Chevrolet first brought their Silverado 3500HD into production in 1999. Since then this massive Chevy pickup has been one of America’s most dependable and durable workhorses. This vehicle is the most powerful member of Chevrolet’s Silverado family, and latest rumors suggest a more robust 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is already on its way.

Although nothing has been heard from Chevrolet, regarding release dates of their new pickup, expect this Silverado to enter US markets by late 2017 or early 2018. Speculations suggest that prices are going to start from around $32,000 for base models. When it comes to changes, customers will get to experience a different car when compared to older models. Changes are going to be seen mostly in engine components and some design aspects.

Does this new 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD come with a new engine?

As mentioned above, this pickup will feature a very much changed engine setup. So, expect to get a 6.6 liter V8 Duramax diesel unit that is capable of producing close to 450 HP of power at an earth shattering 980 lb-ft of torque. A smaller 6.0-liter V8 engine which puts out approximately 350 HP at 360 lb-ft of torque and runs on gasoline will come equipped with this pickup’s base variant.

The transmission will be available in a 6-speed automatic set up for both engine variants. When it comes to fuel economy, expect to get around 15 mpg on an average.

This pickup is one the toughest vehicles out there. So, expect to get a maximum towing capacity of around 14,800 lbs. for its 6.0-liter V8 engine, and 23,400 lbs. for its 6.6-liter diesel power plant.

When it comes to payload, this robust pickup truck offers a maximum payload rating of around 7,200 lbs.

What cab options are available for this truck?

As far as cab varieties go, expect this 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD to come in 3 cab variants: a three passenger regular cab with two doors, a 4 door layout for seating up to 6 passengers in a Double cab and a huge crew cab option for seating 6 people comfortably.

Cabs could arrive with two bed length. One will be a 6.5-foot standard; which will probably come with crew cab variants. The other bed length offered will be around 8.2 foot.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD – Exterior and Interior changes

Customers can expect to observe minimal changes in exterior designs in this new truck. Front fascia wise, it is going to have a similar chrome bar front grille with Chevrolet’s logo at its center. Headlamps arrangement will be in 2 parallel rows of LED lights. A pair of front towing hooks will also come as standard. This new Silverado will have new 20-inch aluminum wheels to add to a newer design look.

Coming to interiors, Chevy has not disclosed anything as such. However, expect to see an upgrade in entertainment systems like new audio players with Bluetooth and USB. Apart from these minor changes, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD will look to maintain its older interior designs.
