Chevrolet Silverado is a name that is synonym for power and performance. It is one of the most powerful pickup trucks available in American markets. Latest news suggests that the U.S automaker is launching a new 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD; which has led excited petrol heads to go nuts with anticipation.
Chevrolet will look to maintain market supremacy with their new super truck. So, expect to see an array of engine upgrades and design changes in this year’s Silverado’s HD.
The new Chevy will probably get an unchanged engine setup when compared its predecessors. So this truck will probably come with a Vortec 6.0 liter V8 engine producing close to 360 HP and 380 lb-ft of torque. Another more powerful 6.6 liter Duramax V8 mill that churns out 450 HP at 910 lb-ft of torque will also be available for higher heavy duty models.
Powertrain setup will come with Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission with minor changes made to different engine types. Fuel economy will probably hover around 14 mpg on average.
Being a big pickup truck, towing capacity is a vital component of Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. So, customers can expect this truck to pull around 14,800 lbs for the standard 6.0 liter V8 and 18,200 lbs for its 6.6-liter engine.
Chevrolet has tried to maximize their payload by providing their pickup with a rigid box structure. To ensure maximum strength, high-quality steel will be used. All these will add to give a maximum payload capacity of around 3500 lbs.
2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD offers three trims regarding cab models, namely – regular cab, quad cab, and crew cab. While the regular cab is a 2-seater, its crew cab version offers a seating capacity of 4 people. The crew cab exhibits the largest model providing a seating arrangement to 6 people.
The new truck will maintain most of its old design. Rear bumper and overall structure will remain unchanged, but expect slight redesign on the front fascia. The front bumper will incorporate a set of new towing hooks and other utility options. Headlights and front grille design will be kept as they were. Wheels will probably be available in 20-inch aluminum variants.
Very little information is available regarding interiors. However, expect that the new Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD comes with a more or less similar interior cabin. Standard bells and whistles like navigation, audio system, etc are still going to be included inside. Standard Bluetooth and USB connectivity will also be available.
This big pickup will come with a more improved cruise control; standard airbags are also going to be provided for driver and co-passenger. Other standard features like traction control and ABS will come loaded in all trims of this vehicle.
The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD will possibly start from $35,000 for its base model. As far as release date is concerned, expect this truck to enter US markets by late 2017 or early 2018.
